A.B. LEONARD YEOMANS Royal Navy
HMS Formidable - HMS Anson - HMS Flamingo - HMS Scout - HMS Intrepid

Leonard Yeomans was a sonar operator searching for U-boats and Japanese submarines.  He served in all of the theatres of war and also in other theatres entertaining the troops.

He was also a singer and a member of ENSA (entertainment group) and performed at ports all over the globe under the guise of Les Day.  He sang with Vera Lynne (she mentions him in her autobiography twice), Jon Pertwee (former Dr. Who), Hattie Jacques (Carry-On) and served on the Anson with the actor Michael Redgrave.  He also recorded the anthem/ march for HMS Anson and performed on CBS Radio in NYC (which is where the above photograph was taken).

His funeral will be held on Friday 14th of January at Corbetts Tey Crematorium, Upminster, Essex at 2:15pm.

If anyone would like to attend, could you please contact Grandson Mike on mikeyeo@sky.plala.or.jp
