ALBERT HENRY DAVID WOOTTON
ROYAL CORPS OF SIGNALS - 36 DIV - 15 INDIA CORPS

Bert sadly passed away on Monday, 28th October 2002 at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath, Sussex.  His family and friends are gathering to celebrate his life on Tuesday, 12th November at 2.00 pm at the Surrey and Sussex Crematorium, Balcombe Road, Crawley, West Sussex, RH10 3NQ.

He was a very able keyboard player and took any opportunity to play whatever instrument he came across.  It is known he played in concert parties, probably in Burma as well as in the UK.

Details of his service etc., are as follows.

Wootton, Albert Henry David, no. 2383693, Signaller, Royal Corps of Signals
Promoted P/A/L.Cpl. 1/3/1945, P/A/Cpl. 7/1/1946 (I have no idea what the P/A signifies)
DoB. 15 April 1923
Enlisted 27 January 1942, discharged (?) January 1947
Served with 36 HQ Division, and, from letters sent by his mother, 82 Operating Section 15 India Corps Signals, India Command and 209(i) MED W/[T Section], ? L of C???, Singapore.

He clearly spent some time in hospital as his service book has a slip attached that states, when "discharged fit for general duty from a hospital or ICD", if in SHILLONG he should be returned to his unit but if elsewhere he is to be sent to the nearest "Reinf/Rest" camp for immediate onward despatch to 23 Reinf. Camp Mynamati, Comilla.
