SAMUEL (CHALKY) WHITE

Samuel (Chalky) White sadly died on the 12th March 1995 at Whitwick and we are grateful to his wife, Gertrude for providing the information following.

Samuel had already joined the Territorial Army before the war began and like many from the area, when the war started, joined the Leicestershire Regiment.  With them Chalky served in Norway, Northern Ireland, India, Burma and the Cocos Islands.

Samuel joined the war in Burma by gliding into the country with the Chindits.
