"Fred Collison was WAG's sergeant; at that time; We had been under heavy attack and a lot of our lads were wounded or killed. WAG as he was known, led a section forward and wiped out a Japanese position, that was causing us a lot of problems; he was shot in the stomach, and we could not get to him as we came under heavy mortar and machine gun fire.

He was died when we finally managed to get to him, for his devotion to duty he was awarded the Military Medal". ( WAG is third row down, 1st from left.)
