FREDERICK UNDERHAY
Royal Army Ordnance Corps

Black Watch  -  Chindit

Barry Underhay writes:-

My father (Frederick Thomas Robert Underhay) was a member of the Royal Army Ordnance Corps who I believe served with the Chindits. I have his campaign medals and Chindit badge. He died while I was still young and he was reluctant to talk about his time in Burma so I did not really get the chance to find out about his service there or his time in Africa. I have some photographs which suggest that he served with the Black Watch and he also mentioned Australian and American troops in one of our very rare conversations about the war. He was a shoemaker. I would welcome contact with anybody who can give me any information about this period in his life. I have recently found a card with his service number and on the reverse he has noted the name S/Sgt Arthur J Bosler. Does this ring any bells with anyone? My thanks in advance to anyone with information.
