History of the Burma Star Association

JOHN (JACK) TURNER
26th Indian Division, 585 Battery 160th Jungle Field Regt. R.A.
1921 - 24th Febuary 2006

'My father John Turner aged 84years died on 24th February 2006. He was a member of the Tameside Burma Star Association until its closure and was the Welfare Officer for many years. Dad had been in the 26th Indian Division, 585 Battery/160 Jungle Field.

We were very proud of our dad and Grandad. He was a gentleman.

Dad's funeral would have made him proud. Other Burma veterans paid their respects and when the Epitaph and final salute was taken there was not a dry eye in the 'house'

A BIG thank you to everyone.
His daughters Madeleine, Barbara, Pamela and Joan and Grandsons John, Stuart, James, Ian, David and Andrew and great-granddaughters Jessica and Elle.
