History of the Burma Star Association

C.Q.M.S. JOHN TANK (M.i.D)
Reg. No: 6474582
ROYAL FUSILIERS - ROYAL ARTILLERY
MIDDLESEX REGIMENT - 5th NIGERIA REGIMENT

Can anyone please help with information on John TANK

John enlisted in July 1940 and joined the ROYAL FUSILIERS until 3/10/1942 (where did they serve?)
Posted to ROYAL ARTILLERY 1/11/1942 - 14/12/1943 (where did they serve?) and then posted to MIDDLESEX REGIMENT 15/12/1943. But then attached to 5th Bn NIGERIAN REGIMENT.

John Tank was first in India (when?) and then served in Burma. When, and in which theatre of operations? He was awarded the Burma Star, and "Mentioned in Despatches". John Tank died a good few years ago and, like many men who served in Burma didn't say much about his experiences. So his daughter would like to know if there are any photos of her Dad. What exactly did a C.Q.M.S.do...In short, anything at all really!

On my OWN behalf, my late grandmother was born in Rangoon in 1888, coming to England in 1919, never to leave. Obviously she took a close interest as to what was happening in her beloved home-land ad I have carried that on. My request? Would any one be willing to share photos/memories of pre-war Rangoon and afterwards? Very many thanks. Norma Hewitt on hewkat@ninna.fsnet.co.uk
