Paul Stephenson writes "Joseph Kenneth Stephenson passed away peacefully on the 5th April 2002. Aged 82 years. He was a Gunner with the Royal Artillery, 4th Durham Survey Regiment. No. 922440 I am looking for any information or former comrades late father Joseph who was a Gunner in the Royal Artillery 4th Durham Survey Regiment, 65th Field Regiment and the 16th Field regiment. He has photographs taken with a friend only known as 'Duncan' in Ahmednagar in India. He was stationed in India/Burma from 1942/1945. My Father was a quiet and considerate man, who was reluctant to go into details regarding the war in Burma. I think he preferred his children to idolise him for other reasons, which we did. However, since my Fathers recent passing at the age of 82, we have unearthed these photographs along with his original regimental jungle knife and hat, a Japanese flag with prayers and names inscribed and various Japanese postcards. I would be very interested to here from anyone who can remember my Father for any reason during the war. His regimental number was 922440. I know he suffered from Malaria and Black Water Fever while in Burma, and was even forced to temporarily join the U.S. Army in order to receive treatment for the latter. I'm sure there are a lot more tales I can pass on to the Grandson my Father adored in future years and sincerely hope that I receive some response.
