SGT JOHN (JACK) ROGERS - WELCH REGIMENT:- I am the son of John (Jack) Rogers from Cardiff, who was a sergeant in the Welch regiment in Burma between 1939/40 and 1944. He, like many soldiers who served in Burma spoke little of his experiences. He did however write a little about them in letters to my mother Nellie (nee Harrison) In one letter/story he mentions an experience when he became separated from his company in thick bush with a man he referred to as "Poldo", which I believe was a nickname. "Poldo" came from Pembrokeshire I believe and my father, mother, sisters and brother visited him in 1961 before emigrated to Australia. My father was in hospital with malaria at Poona. I have photographs of my father at that time and with other men we believe were in his Company. I would really like to hear from anyone who served with my father, remembers him from that time in Burma or who is related to anyone who served with him. I would like to hear from anyone who knows anything of Poldo My father died in 1988 here in Australia in his early 70s. My mother passed away earlier this year in her late 80s. Thank you. johnnodouglas@yahoo.com

CHARLES (BRUISER) NEIL COLLINS - CHANGI GAOL 1942-1945):- Niece Jenelle writes " My name is Jenelle McCarrick and I am searching for information on my great uncle, Charles Neil Collins, (nickname Bruiser) from Blackall, now in Charleville Nursing home, who was a prisoner of War, Changi 1942-45. Apparently he carried a photo of a early teens male with boxing gloves, whilst in camp, (my father Noel), he had a photo of the men taken outside the camp, they were dressed in a white lap lap, very thin, probably towards 1945. I think he also worked on the Thai Burma Railway. The only story he told, (with scars) was that he was bayoneted and clubbed over the head and left to die and when his friends went to bury him the next day, he was still alive.
