Gunner Wilfred Sykes 1 Medium Regt. Royal Artillery 1769097. Wilfred's daughter Elaine writes "Is there anyone who has information about or who knew my father during the Burma Campaign.
He died when I was 4 years old in September 1947, as a result of illnesses contracted in Burma.
I would like to find out more about him and the experiences of he and his colleagues during W.W.II.
He did not leave for Burma until early 1943, was raised in Oldham Lancs. and on enlistment lived in Chadderton.
He is buried in Hollinwood Cemetery.

PTE PERRY (PERRIN) BOULTON - 2ND BTN KING'S OWN ROYAL REGIMENT:  Perry's nephew Tony writes "

To any one who can help,I am Trying to trace information on my Uncle, Pte. P (Perrin/Perry)Boulton.  Perry started with the Royal Norfolk Regiment but was subsequently transferred to the 2nd battalion the Kings Own Royal Regt in India. I have photo of the battalion taken 1945 if any one interested. Can any one give me advice where to start looking for Perrys records I don't even have his pay number. He died several years ago now and his widow Meg then moved from their old address of 95? Banham Rd. Beccles Suffolk to Clerks Piece Beccles.

Incidentally Perry was demobbed in the late 40s., but re-enlisted I think he ended up in the military police at Woking for a while as I have a photo marked squad67 military police Woking,   Later I believe he worked as a mess orderly?, certainly again I have photo of him in waiters uniform.  I have two other photos but with no annotation showing him with colleagues in his early days, when I find out how to do it I  will scan them into a email if any one wants to see them.

Hoping you can assist

Tony Love

BOMADIER RONALD S FRENCH - 125th ANTI-TANK REGT R.A./34 LAA, RA: Ron's family wrote:
"Sir, sorry to trouble you only I was surfing the net looking for information on my fathers military life.  He was captured in Singapore by the Jap's and spent nearly four years working on the famous Death Railway from Burma to Siam . My father died five years ago so my sisters and I are trying to make a record of his military life.
We have acquired a lot of information about him ,but as always never enough and we are missing a lot.  What we are looking for is first of all is there anybody that new him I think this is the most difficult question.?

I suppose I should start with his name : his name RONALD S FRENCH at the time of his capture he was a bombardier he was in the 125 A/TANK REGIMENT ROYAL ARTILLERY commanded by Lt Col, J Dean.

After his release he returned to England ' HOW ' we don't know, this is also another question ? We do know at some time he changed regiments to the 34 LAA, RA were they were stationed we don't know, I do know that he was based in Colchester for several years , where he served as a military prison officer, if any body has information on any of the above questions , or any other information on my father I would be very grateful.

THANKING YOU IN ADVANCE

SGT ALBERT AGOMBAR - Regiment not known at this time.  Alberts Grandson Peter writes: "

I am trying to find any information on, or about my Grand Father.  His name was Albert Agombar and when he returned from Burma his rank was SGT.  My mother was 4 years old when he returned home and she was born just before he left.  That is the reason he was sent there in the first place because, he went AWOL to see his newborn daughter. I only have one photo of him with three mates, taken during the war

He had a tattoo on his left forearm of a peace dove and it only had one leg, due to the fact he sobered up either by then to realize what was happening, and that his wife would kill him when he got home.

When he returned home he wore a Australian Slouch hat the same as the digger here wear today.  (my Nan said he looked real cocksure in it.)

My Grandmother has told me he held the Gurkha's  in very high regard.  So I know the he operated with them on Occasions thru out the war.

My mother brother in London has his service record and I have been asking for years for them to send me a copy, but some people don't appreciate treasures as much as other.  He, "can't find it".    Or that is what he keeps telling my Mother.

So I would be externally grateful if you could send me any information on him or his Regiment, and any of his mates that are still alive who would be willing to spin me a few yarns about him.

I have also included a my work E-mail address as well.   I am a Petty Officer in the Royal Australian Navy serving at HMAS ALBATROSS. The home of the Fleet Air Arm.

Any further information that I can pass your way I will
`                                    Thank you for your valuable time:

JOHN THOMAS (TOM) McLELLAN - Kings Own Liverpool Regiment/Chindits:  Tom's son Wayne writes "

My father John Thomas McLellan(known by his friends as TOM) was in the Chindits (kings Liverpool Regiment). He passed away 10 years ago (when I was 24 yrs old) and he didn't really tell me much about his exploits in the Burma campaign, he was a very quiet and private man. All I have are some photographs of Burma and India which he took on his travels and his personal documents (and of course his cherished medals)

I'd love to hear from anyone who fought in Burma to let me know what it was like so that maybe I could get to know what my dad went through. I would especially love to hear from anyone who knew him.

Kind regards

Wayne
