History of the Burma Star Association

Roy Hall Cameronians, the Royal Army Service Corps, the King's African Rifles, The Arab Legion and the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers

My late husband Roy Hall served in the Cameronians, the Royal Army Service Corps, the King's African Rifles, The Arab Legion and the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. He saw active service in Burma and Palestine. I have received his admin records from the Army Record office in Bourne, but am having a terrible time tracking down his full records. I don't know where to locate info on the K.A.R. nor the Arab Legion.

If any people out there remember Roy he was with the 1st -4th K.A.R. at Zomba, and I believe it was with the K.A.R. that he served in Burma from about May of 1945 until ??. He became a colour Sergeant in the KAR after the after the war. From there he went to Palestine where he served briefly with the Arab legion and then to Egypt where he was with the RASC in the workshops at el Tel El Kebhir in the desert. Roy was from Great Harwood in Lancashire born May 11 1927 and took his basic training in Scotland at Lanark with the Cameronians.. I would VERY much appreciate hearing from any who knew or remember Roy. An acquaintances in Egypt was Tex Rogers, in East Africa Ray Moore, and Rickie Brooks, and in Palestine Ted Williams from Burnley and possibly Jock Hastie. I don't know any names from his service in Burma. A close friend from HQ NWD Preston was Pete Norman. If any of these people or any others who remember him, are still around, could they please contact me by e-mail meghall@sympatico.ca or snail mail Mrs. Marg Hall,
1505 Baseline Rd.. Ottawa ON, K2C 3L4  CANADA
Thanks, Marg. (widow of the late William Roy Hall)
