History of the Burma Star Association

George (Geordie) Ramsay
Lived Dundee
Black Watch / Chindits

Recently I have just read the Eric Lomax book based on his experience during the fall of Singapore and his subsequent experiences on the Siam – Burma rail way. The book was so wonderful and enlightening even with such a dark topic. In away it has only fuel my desire for more knowledge of my own Grandfather hence why I located and found this wonderful website.

If anyone has any information relating to my grandfather I would be forever in debt. He himself never spoke of his time during the war, after I visiting the railway itself and hell fires pass I am even more curious and respectful of the human endeavour and suffering that occurred.

Name: - George Ramsay also know as Geordie Origin: - Dundee Scotland Occupation: -
Signal man during the war.
Work for Dundee Corporation as a tram and bus conductor post war.

Additional info: - Best Friend before and after the war was a Jock Craig. Military details: - unsure of regiment (believe it may have been the black watch). He did speak of his terrible sickness on the boat over to Singapore. Also spoke of his time in India prior to the fall of Singapore. Was allegedly present during the fall of Singapore. If anyone can assist in piecing the jigsaw tighter please don’t hesitate to contact myself. With admiration and love to you all Let us not forget!
