SIGNALLER JAMES 'JIMMY' NESBITT Son Stuart writes: "I was wondering if anyone out their new my father Jimmy Nesbitt. I'm his youngest son and am presently trying to find out as much info about his millitary career as possible. He served in Malaya command signal regiment and I believe he was also attached to 36 Div signal regiment late 44 early 45. I have a few old photos and other mementos with some names and places that might jog some memories. One photo is signed Don Barton, Eddy Bowd and 'Deadly' Ted Durrant. Another is in Klang 3 Coy football team with the sultan of Selangor's palace as a back drop. I also have his course photo from Catterick 56 squad 1coy 1stotb R.Signals 1944 Instructor Cpl Burgess. (funnily enough I too did my recruits training at Helles Barracks Catterick in 1988} Also I have two canteen ration cards from the Empress of Japan (why was the name not changed?) Boltom W 14819749 troop space E2 and Cunningham G 14726335 Troop space E2 Finaly for now his soldiers release book is stamped 7 oct 1947 (no2 cmd & du York) If anybody has any info at all relating to any of the mentioned topics I would welcome your replies ( I'll even return the canteen cards!!!) yours Stu (ex Sgt R.Sigs)" on stuart_germany@hotmail.com |
