4125500 ROYAL INNISKILLIN FUSILIERS

Passed Away 24 July 2008 aged 88 years

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jimmy Maddocks at Arrowe Park Hospital, Birkenhead on 24 July 2008 aged 88 years.

In July 1937, Jimmy joined the Territorial Army branch of The Cheshire Regiment and served with the regiment in France following mobilisation at the outbreak of war.

From June 1942 to January 1943, Jimmy served with The Royal Northumberland Fusiliers and was transferred from Europe to the Far East theatre of war.  With stop-overs in Cape Town and Durban, Jimmy arrived in India before embarking on the Burma campaign.

Jimmy served in the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers in the Burma campaign between January 1943 and July 1946 and proudly held the Burma Star having served in the Campaign between January 1943 and July 1944.

Following his return to civilian life, Jimmy took up work within Price’s Chemicals, Bromborough Pool in Plant Maintenance Engineering, where he served continuously until his early retirement in 1981.

A funeral ceremony and cremation took place at Landican Cemetery, Woodchurch, Wirral on Wednesday 6 August 2008.
