JONATHAN EDWARD MOORS, known as 'Ted' or 'Eddie'

It is with great regret that I inform you that my grandfather, Jonathan Edward Moors (Ted), who joined the Kings Troop Royal Horse Artillery, aged 17 and was wounded at Dunkirk, served in North Africa briefly and was stationed in Burma for four years, passed away on the 23rd December 2000. The funeral will be held at West Hertfordshire Crematorium on the 5th January 2001 at 1.00pm. I am very proud of my grandfather and I would love to hear from any of his comrades through the e-mail address below. Fiona Moors

Grandad told me some stories of his time in Burma and showed me his 'war wounds'. When my children grow up I will make sure that they do not forget him or any of the brave men who fought for us and our freedom.

Born 1st February 1920 in BIRKENHEAD, Merseyside  The only boy of seven (three elder sisters survive him, Kath, Emily and Florrie).

Ted worked as a young man at Camel Lairds Shipyard in Birkenhead. He joined the Army at 17 (Kings Troop Royal Horse Artillery) and was stationed at St Johns Wood where he met his late wife Elsie.

He fought and was wounded at Dunkirk, then four years in Burma and also briefly in North Africa.

On return to England he and Elsie ran a Sub Post Office in North London for over 40 years. He played a bit of Cricket for the local Post Office team. He played golf locally at Bushey Hall, He also loved his horse racing (and a little bet).

Ted was a quiet, gentle, man, a Gentleman in the true sense of the word.

He will be sadly missed by his son Douglas, daughter in law Pat, Grand daughters Christina and Fiona and Great grand daughter Ailsa.
