History of the Burma Star Association

We are sad to be reporting the passing of:

ARNOLD E. (BEN) HAYES

7th September 1923 to 2nd May 2005
Born at Kolar Gold Fields, India - Died at Eagle Creek, British Columbia, Canada

British Army: The King’s Own, RCAOC. Canadian Army: RCOC. 1939 – 1945 Star, Burma Star, 39 – 1945 War Medal, Defence Medal and Canadian Forces Decoration with Clasp. Member of the RCOC School from 1953 to 1964. Served with I Staff Jericho Beach Vancouver British Columbia before retiring.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather at the age of 82. Ben is survived by his wife Flora; his three sons Vernon, Sidney and Gary; his grandchildren Barbara, Leslie, Terhesa, Eryn, Niles, Ashley, Jennifer and Robert. In lieu of flowers and gifts, visits for tea would be appreciated. The Hayes family would like to thank the community of 100 Mile House for the kindness they have shown.

“Old Soldiers Never Die, They Just Fade Away”

Signed by youngest son of A.E. Hayes //Captain Gary R. Hayes, CD//Canadian Forces
