ERIC HATCH

Eric started serving on the 2nd September 1939 in the T.A. Unit of the 6th Battalion, the Royal Norfolk Regiment being stationed in Norwich, Walton (airfield), Swaffham, Sherringham which were all in Norfolk.  At the Britannia Barracks in Norwich, Eric was a squad instructor.

Commissioned in 1942 at 202 OCTU, Bristol, he then went on to serve overseas in 55 Motor Ambulance Section which he became the commanding officer of.  Eric then went on active service to Assam.  He was subsequently appointed O/C of 61 G.P.T. Company 7th Indian Infantry Division with whom he went to Burma, Thailand and Malaya. 

Demob leave expired on Christmas Day 1946 after which he joined an Insurance Company which he served in Norwich, Preston, Manchester and Leicester.

Eric remembers with affection and pride, the V.J. Parade in London in 1995.
