FREDERICK JOSEPH CRAWFORD

Hi, My grandfather served with the Chindits - his name - Frederick Joseph Crawford. My father retells the story of when my grandfather and his colleagues blew up a maze of foxholes in the jungle in Burma. An Imperial soldier was mortally wounded along with a young Japanese girl who had with her a baby. The baby sadly died too but the Chindits had no idea that the girl and her baby were in there. My grandfather allowed the Imperial soldier to kill himself with his sword and he brought the sword back with him when he eventually returned home. Fred Crawford died aged 52 when I was 4 years old but it seems to me that there are so many things missing and untruths that are told with the forgotten war that I would like to know more, know if anyone knew my grandfather or where any of his belongings went to (the flag that they wrapped the baby in, the sword and a ghurka knife were in his belongings. Unfortunately, Fred gave these items to his eldest brother to look after. They are missing presumed sold and as some relatives are now dead we have no way of recovering them. I know it sounds daft to some people but the Japanese say there is a curse if the sword is not passed on correctly. So far this curse is holding true. Can anyone please help ? Or does anyone know of my grandfather or his comrades ? Any help or info would be appreciated.  Caron Pack on c1pack@aol.com
