HARRY COOPER
(Thomas Henry Cooper)
LEICESTERSHIRE REGIMENT/CHINDITS

The following has been received from Harry's family.  If you remember Harry or one of those named in this piece, could you e-mail them on debcoop@iprimus.com.au

My husband Alan and I live in Australia and Alan's father was in Burma in 1944 with the Leicestershire Regiment. His name was Thomas Henry Cooper and he was a w corporal? He died when Alan was seven and there is no one around who can tell us about his experiences. His father was known as Harry Cooper. His army number was 4864876.

We do know he was wounded and was in hospital on Christmas day 1944 at Trimulgherrry and the menu bears the royal army medical corps insignia and the following: 128,I.B.G.H.(bt), we have the menu for the christmas dinner signed by the following people:
M. Saunders
E.G. Woods Somerset
M.E. White London
R.J. Haycock Hertfordshire
C.L. Jones, sussex
G. Hayans? CHINDIT
Athless Blyth

There are lots of names on it all signed by the people, but they are hard to read. I wish I could read more.

We have photo's of him in the hospital and out and about but it is a big hole in Alan's life and he would love to know what happened to his dad in Burma/India

We have his soldiers release book, again this gives us no information. I have tried searching the web, but can find only places to go and search in England. Which is impossible for us.

I would love to hear from anyone who can help us in our search, to fill in the gaps.  Our e mail address is debcoop@iprimus.com.au
