JOCK (JAMES WILLIAM) BURNS
PANSY BERYL DAVIDSON
(married Maymyo 12th July 1941)

Carol Burns writes "

I am searching for information on my father in law....James William Burns aka Jock Burns who also served with the KOYLI in Burma. His nickname was Jock but we would like to know if he was called this because his parents were Scottish or mainly because of his name being Burns. He met my mother in law in Maymyo and married her in July 1941. Her name was Pansy Beryl Davidson

We know that he eventually became a  sergeant before he left the army. I think he may still have been in the army when he died though. He died on 10th January 1966 at Westminster Hospital in London though his wife and children were then living in Skelton near York. I think he may have been coming home on leave (possibility there).

My husband is the fourth of six children but we do not know when they came back to the UK or where they first lived. I am hoping that someone may remember them some how and know where they may have gone to or any other details such as where his parents were from. James died in January 1966 and Pansy died in 1970 when my husband was aged just under 5yrs old. He does not have many memories of his father but has a few of his mother. Any information would be helpful as the other family members are distant."
