Ian Armitage on idarmitage@netscapeonline.co.uk writes " I have been unable to locate any info on No.25 A.A.S.C. As a wireless mechanic in the R.A.F. I arrived in India in March 1943 and was posted to 25 A.A.S.C. which was basically an army Signal's unit being formed at Poona. The C.O. was I believe a major Murrray (?). Another officer was a Capt.Keymer, later a major. The unit comprised mainly army B.O.R. signallers and also a large I.O.R. contingent. In May we moved to Pudur Camp, Vanyambadi, Madras Presidency for jungle training before moving to the front. I was posted from the unit prior to this event and eventually I ended by joining 117 Sqdn R.A.F. early in 1944 with which I stayed till its disbandonment in 1946. I believe 25 A.A.S.C. joined the fray at Imphal & Kohima, but more than that I do not know. How can I trace them on your web site, please? I seem to recall that there was no.23 A.A.S.C. already in operation at the front in 1943. Can you help Ian? If so, please e-mail him at idarmitage@netscapeonline.co.uk |
