Sadly we don't know a great deal about this battery - could it actually be the Regiment's name. If you can help, please contact the webmaster at pecbsa@btconnect.com We are also seeking information on Captain Henry Blake. If you remember the Captain, could you please click here to read a request from his nephew. Oliver Brown on oliverjbrown@hotmail.com kindly sent us the following information:
Good Morning
I found your web page,
www.burmastar.org.uk, after looking for
information on my grandfathers WWII service. He was in 236 Battery RA,
which is mentioned on your web site. I understand you are more about
Burma, but just to let you know, 236 was an anti tank battery, and when
my grandfather served, they landed in Normandy, went across Pegasus
bridge, and finally ended up liberating the Belson concentration camp.
He was one of the poor few that had to bulldoze bodies of the dead into
mass graves. Terrible, he was never the same again apparently. I can
only imagine. I hope this helps a little, as you were asking for more
info on this regiment, sorry its not on the Burma battle field, but
thought I would write anyway. Please write back if you need any more
info.
Regards
Oliver Brown
